Viorel Moldovan was born on August 8, 1972 in Bistrita and played as a striker. For Romania, Moldovan was capped 70 times, scoring 26 goals. He played for his country at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, Euro 96, the 1998 FIFA World Cup - during which he scored Romania's opening goal against England in the first round - and Euro 2000.
He won the Romanian Cup with Rapid Bucharest in 2006, Switzerland Championship Grasshoppers Zurich in 1998 and France Championship with FC Nantes in 2001. He was awarded the goal getter of the year in Switzerland in 1996 and 1997 and the third Romanian footballer of the year in 1996. |
