Silviu Lung was born in Sanmiclaus, Satu Mare County, on the 9th of September 1956 and played as a goalkeeper having been capped 77 times for the national team.

He won the Romanian Championship with Universitatea Craiova in 1980 and 1981 and with Steaua in 1989.
