Pauleta was born in Ponta del Algada, Azores, on April 28, 1973 and played as a striker. He has been capped 89 times for the national team and scored 47 times. He played in Euro 2000, Euro 2004, 2002 FIFA World Cup and he was the European top scorer in the qualifying games for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
He won French Cup with Paris St-Germain in 2004 and 2006, and in 2008 he won French League Cup. He was named top goal scorer in the seasons 2001 – 2002, 2005 – 2006 and 2006 - 2007 in Ligue I and in 2002 he was named the football player of the year. |
