Ionel Ganea was born in Fagaras, Brasov, on August 10, 1973. He is a striker and he was capped 45 times for the national team, scoring 19 times.

Among his honors we can remind the title of Romania Champion with Rapid Bucuresti in 1999 and the title of Romania Champion with Dinamo Bucuresti in 2006.
