He was born in 2nd of January 1950 in Bucharest and played as a central midfielder. In the National Team he gathered 57 caps and scored 12 goals. He was a member of the Romanian National Team squad that participated in the European Championship in 1984.

He won 3 Romanian Cups, one with Rapid Bucharest in 1972 and two with Steaua Bucharest in 1976 and 1979. He also won two Romanian Championships with Steaua Bucharest in 1976 and 1978.
