Ilie Dumitrescu was born on the 6th of January 1969 in Bucharest.In his career as a professional football player he played as a striker. He gathered 62 caps for the National Team and scored 20 goals. He was a member of the Golden Generation participating in the FIFA World Football Championships of 1990, 1994 and 1998.

His trophy case counts 4 titles as a champion of Romania with Steaua Bucharest in 1987, 1989, 1993, 1994 and 2  Romanian Cups with Steaua Bucharest in 1989 and 1992. In 1993 he was the declared Top Scorer of Romania’s First division and won the second place in the Best Romanian Football Player of the Year Awards.
