Emeric Ienei was born in Agris, Arad County on the 22nd of March 1937. During his career as a professional football player he played as a defender and was capped 12 times for the national team.

In his career as a coach he won Champions’ Cup in 1986, the Romanian Championship in 1986 and 1993 and the Romanian Super Cup in 1993, all these with Steaua Bucharest.
