Cristian Chivu was born in Resita, on the 26th of October in 1980 and plays as a left/central defender. He was capped 58 times for the national team and scored 3 goals. he played in the EURO 2000 along with Gica Hagi and Gica Popescu.

He was awarded with the Marco van Basten Trophy. He won the Dutch Championship in 2002 with Ajax and was also awarded in the same year the best Romanian player.
