Angelo Niculescu was born in Craiova on the 1st of October 1921. He began his career in 1937 at Rovine Grivita Craiova and played as a midfielder.

As a cach he began his carreer at Dinamo and than evolved for CCA, Tractorul Brasov and the national team of Romania. He qualified the national team at the Worlc Cup 1970 in Mexico, after 32 years of absence in a World Cup.
